School Wide Events
The Early Childhood Learning Center has a number of school wide events throughout the year.
Our children learn academic and life skills through many hands-on experiences.
Literacy Events:
Every month of the school year, the children come together to
sing our school song, read a story, and complete an activity.
Career Day:
Students participate in “Career Day” as part of their Guidance Curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to dress up in clothes that represent a career they are interested in. We will
have a whole school assembly where parents will be sharing
their wonderful career choices.
Maple Sugaring and Pancake Snack:
Every year, the ECLC learns about the Maple Syrup process.
The children tap our trees in the front of the school, collect and measure the sap. Our teachers boil the sap to create our very
own “ECLC Maple Syrup”. We end the unit with a “Pancake Breakfast”.
Fort Foster Day:
The ECLC children along with parents, teachers, and school nurse travel to Fort Foster for a day of exploration on the beach. They tide-pool for creatures and then have a picnic with their families. It's a nice way to end the school year.
Fire Prevention Week
Fire prevention week takes place in October. There are a number of activities that the children participate in such as a poster contest, presentation at the school where the firemen dress up in their gear, and an Open House at the Fire Department.
Polar Express:
The children think it's just Pajama Day and then they hear the train whistle. They each get a ticket and line up to head down to the Polar Express Train. Once aboard, the children drink hot chocolate with marshmallows and watch the Polar Express E-book. It's an exciting day for all!
Math Day:
The purpose of the day is to reinforce math skills learned throughout the school year. Children and parents have the opportunity to go from class to class to play games and problem solve. They enjoy making up their own trail mix!
